In the 70s when our Commander, John Foster, returned
home from the Air Force, devoted a lot of time helping
abused, neglected, underprivileged and needy children.
His father, Charles Foster, who's nickname was Poke,
played with Roy Rogers as a child.  They became close
friends and when Roy left Scioto County to become a
star, they lost contact with each other.  Our
Commander wrote to Roy and told him about his dad
Poke.  He told Roy about his work with the children
and asked if Roy would make a recording to advertise
for him.  Roy wrote back and said he would.  When
John received the tape there was a message at the end of
it from Roy.  Roy said when he came back to
Portsmouth he would contact him and they would get
together.  Some of these pictures were take
n at Roy's
old school teacher
's home in Lucasville, OH.  We hope
you enjoy the pictures.
