Governor Ted Strickland Ohio Cares About Our Veterans
|

March 5, 2009
To the Honorable Governor Ted Strickland;
Dear Governor,
On behalf of the homeless, needy veterans and others that are in need, thank you for
the Governors Luncheon today in Columbus. We want you to know that Veterans
Helping Veterans & Others is behind you 100% in making Ohio strong again. As long
as we have a Governor, like yourself who cares, Ohio will come through the hard times
we are facing in America today.
As Commander of V.H.V.O. I want to say thank you. You touched my heart today
and lifted my spirits more than you will ever know. We have been going through a
hard battle in our area trying to care for veterans and civilians alike who are in need.
There have been times when we felt like walking way, but today my lunch was worth far
more than the $25. cover charge, it was worth a million just to shake your hand and
introduce you to my dear friend, Mr. Etterling, who lost his son In Iraq in 05. I sit
here with tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat just thinking about how you
remembered Mr. Etterling and his son and the heckles that was given you by the family
almost five years ago. You must have been to the grave sites of many fallen comrades
that gave their lives for our great nation, but yet you still remember Lance Cpl.
Jonathan Etterling, age 22 of Wheelersburg. You are one of a kind. You are the
kind of Governor every state would like have. You care and it shows.
Thank you again, Governor Strickland, for such an enjoyable and rewarding day in the
Capital. God bless, have a God day and keep up the good work.
John D. Foster
Commander / V.H.V.O.
