| Free at last, free at last, thank God almighty, we're free at last. These were the words of Dr. Marten Luther King, Jr. years ago. Today we can say the same thing for our troops coming home from Iraq. They will no longer be tied up in a war that has been going on since Bible days and will go on until the Lord comes to take us home. According to The Washington Post The 4th Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, which left Iraq earlier August, was the final U.S. combat brigade to be pulled out of the country. 50,000 troops were left behind to act as a training force in Iraq. Under a bilateral agreement, all U.S. troops must be out of Iraq by Dec. 31, 2011. More than 4,400 troops have been killed since the invasion in Iraq, some were from our area, Lance Cpl. Jonathan Etterline of Wheelersburg being one of them. While everyone celebrates their loved ones coming home, all the Etterling's of America will rejoice with a heavy heart that the troops are finally coming home. Thank the Lord they are coming home. They have been shot at, watched their buddies die next to them, missiles fired at them, little or no sleep, suffer from P.T.S.D., and the list goes on. When they get home they will have to fight for their benefits and have to wait for them to kick in. There are no jobs to be found, they will have issues to iron out from the war, and they will need our help. Though they are back home in America, they will be fighting the war in Iraq for years to come. Some will go to their grave with Iraq still in their system. It will take all of us working together to help them get back as close as they can to their normal way of living. Veterans Helping Veterans & Others is ready to do our part. We have a Service Officer to help file their claims, contacts to help with P.T.S.D., handicap equipment for those troops in need, a food pantry, clothing give away and when funds permit, we help them in other ways. In order to do these things for our troops/veterans, we need the support of the public. We need the churches, schools and business places to give their financial support and have food drives for the pantry. We have served our veterans, widows and widowers of veterans for five years, that are in need, and we will continue as long as we have the support we need to continue. John D. | WELCOME HOME OUR HEROES |
| WELCOME HOME OUR HEROES |
| WELCOME HOME OUR HEROES |
| Welcome home our heroes you are finally away from the fight. Try to relax; you will be in a safe bed tonight. It's happiness not sorrow that triggers all of these tears, It seems our loved ones that you have been away fro years. You will never know how we worried while you have been away, We prayed for your safety every night and day. Everyone inquired about you while you were in the danger zone, Many prayed with us for your safe return back home. When we heard of casusalities, and when their names came, We shed tears for their families because we shared their pain. We identified with them like they were family, We knew if we lost you how sharp the pain would be. Now that we can hold you close it eases our stress, We know you are safe at home with the ones who love you best. With this one thought on our mind we would like to say THANKS FOR THE GREAT JOB YOU HAVE DONE WE OWE YOU A DEBT THAT WE CAN NEVER REPAY. By: Walter C. Stout Sr. Copy Right 1-13-2005 |
