Freedom Is Not Free
By: Derrick Hammond

Here we are, another year to celebrate our national holiday the Fourth
of July. Barbeques will be fired up as friends and love ones get
together to commemorate the founding of the United States in 1776.
Most of the populace will enjoy a day off with pay and relax enjoying
their families. Let us not forget during this time those who have and
fought and died to preserve our way of life and those who are still
fighting around the world for this cause. Without their sacrifice we
would cease to exist as the beacon of freedom for the world to see.
This is the cost of freedom, fathers, mothers, sons and daughters
willing to sacrifice their very lives for these things we hold dear. It was ..
Patric Henry during the Revolutionary War who said “give me liberty
or give me death”, before he was hung by the British.
The colonist first took up arms to pave a way of free life. Since then
our soldiers have not ceased to hear the call. They have not faltered or
failed to go wherever they were sent on our behalf. The Monroe
Doctrine has been tested, our resolve has been tested but we continue
to hold to these truths that the founding fathers made so evident. Men
should be free from tyranny! Much blood has been spilt in the last 236
years so that you and I can enjoy these principles yet today. Let us
appreciate the sacrifices that have been made. Let us count the cost of
the freedoms we enjoy. Let us say a prayer for the soldiers abroad and
their families. Let the sound of freedom ring. May God bless all on this
holiday and may He continue to bless the United States of America.
