I would like to say how proud I am to be a member of Veterans Helping Veterans and Others. I would
also like to say how much of a privilege it is to be the leader of the Ladies Auxiliary. I am a member of
the Living With A Cause. I am into making our town a better place for us and our families to live. I have
helped with all of the Christmas dinners we have held, I have made yellow ribbons to help support our
veterans, the men and women overseas right now. An close acquaintance of mine was a Vietnam
Veteran, my two brothers was Korea War veterans, and my father was a veteran from World War 1
where he served in the army. My husband's uncle, Leroy Heelman, was a Courier in the Army. He was
in Japan and became MIA when they bombed Pearl Harbor. They still haven't found him. My husband
brakes down and cries still today when he talks about it.
With this, I know a little something about veterans, writing them and praying they will return home. I
sent 200 Christmas cards to our veterans this past year letting them know that we are so proud of
them and thanking them for the major sacrifice that they have made for our freedom.
We would like to invite you to be a part of this great work in our area for our homeless, needy veterans
and others that are in need. We are veterans and civilians working hand in hand to make our area a
better place to live. If you have idle time on your hands, you can put your talents, skills and knowledge
to good work in the Ladies Auxiliary during these troublesome times in America. United we stand, but
divided we fall.
