We remember the tears shed,
when you went out the door.
The best America had to offer, going
off to war.
Many were girls and boys suddenly
becoming
women and men.
Never enjoying the joys of their youth
again.
Many of you died in airplanes, ships,
Submarines and mud,
Some died alone or with their buddies
but all shed hero's blood.
Some returned broken in body,
some in spirit or mind.
Some would see no sunrise or sunset
because they went blind.
They can always be proud of the
battles fought,
and the battles they won.
And never quitting when times got
tough
or the battle had begun.
We try to understand what you went
through
being hit by shrapnel and shell,
God must have reserved a place in
Heaven for you,
Because you have already spent your
time in Hell.
You will always be our American
Hero's,
this we will always say.
We owe all that serve a debt
that we can never repay.

Our American Hero
In Loving Memory of:
Sgt. Shawn Fannin
Tribute to Sgt. Shawn Fannin
Our hearts are heavy, our eyes are filled with tears as one of our own comes
home from Afghanistan, but not the way Sgt. Fannin's wife and two little girls
wanted him to.  It makes us ask the question, why?  Why did this have to
happen?  Like so many of our hero's, Sgt. Shawn Fannin put his life on hold,
left his family, home, and country behind to put his life at risk for his country.
He laid down his life so his wife, children, family, friends and country could live
safe and free.

Sgt. Fannin was no stranger to war, he served in Iraq until he was sent to
Afghanistan.  Nancy McMillin, our care package coordinator,  sent our Jonathan
Etterling Memorial Care Packages to Sgt. Fannin in Iraq and later to Afg. We
wanted him to know that we all loved him, are behind him and he is in our
hearts, mind and prayer.

Greater love hath no man than this, that
he lay down his life for his friends.

V.H.V.O. salute's Sgt. Shawn Fannin
for his service to our country.

This was the last time we heard
from Sgt. Fannin before his passing.
I am a Cpl. in the United States
Army.  I had recently received a
package from your organization
several weeks ago.  I am currently
stationed in Camp Marmal,
Afghanistan.  The last package I had
received from you was when I was
stationed in Iraq from June. 08 to
June 09.  I can tell you I would much
rather be back in Iraq than here.  I
don't know if that makes much
sense.  I do want to thank you for
what you and your friends are still
doing for the soldiers.  I hope this
letter finds you and your family doing
well.  God bless!

Shawn
