About The Board!
Arnold Stevenson
Trustee
Arnold Stepheson, Trustee, is a 91 year old veteran who served in the United
States Army from 1941 to 1945.  He is a member of  AMVETS Post 2352 and
is faithful in his service to helping homeless and needy veterans, and others
in the community.  He takes part in fund raising, collecting food items for the
food bank, helping the needy at Christmas time and throughout the year.  He
is also a faithful volunteer in giving his time in the food pantry.
Robert Cooley
Chaplain
Robert Cooley, Chaplain, served in the United States Marines.  He has served
our homeless and needy veterans with pride and honor for many years as he
has seen to their needs.  He has been a pastor, teacher and deacon over the
years.  He is a member of AMVETS Post 2352, faithful servant to the veterans
and is always looking for ways to do more as he serves.  He does a great job in
Directing the Jonathan Etterling & Michael Orban Memorial Food Pantry as he
cares for the needs of our homeless, needy veterans and others.
                      
                  
Deanna Eldridge
Secretary
Deanna Eldridge, Secretary, is no stranger to the military.  She traveled with
her husband who was in the Marines.  She has given her time is serving the
needy in our community since childhood when she helped raise finances for
needy children.  Denna was involved in signing papers at the attorney's office
in starting V.H.V.O. and has done a good job in not only being Secretary, but
in helping with fund raising.  She is a Counselor in our public school and helps
with our Annual Christmas Program.
Matt Large
Trustee
Matt is a Banker at Charter One in Wheelersburg, OH.  His experience, education
and professionalism are vital to the work of Veterans Helping Veterans & Others.  
As Trustee & a banker, Matt will play an important roll in assisting our treasurer in
her yearly reports to the state.   Matt has never served in the military, but he
understands the service and dedication of those who have served in the armed
forces.  Matt's father, older brother, and many uncles are proud veterans whom
Matt respects very much.  Matt is ready and proud to be serving veterans &
civilians alike as a volunteer in Veterans Helping Veterans & Others.
Mike Gifford
Vice Commander
Though our Vice Commander, Mike Gifford, never served in armed forces due to his
health, he has served our veterans and country with honor and pride for many
years.   He has served our community and communities across the country for 30
years as a minister and pastor.  He has counseled, donated, took part in fund
raising, fed, clothed and given shelter to homeless and needy veterans for many
years.  He has earned the title of Honorary Veteran in Veterans Helping Veterans &
Others for his many years of dedication to helping our veterans.  He was one of the
first to become Honorary Veteran, since Bob Hope in 1997.  He is founder & Director
of Living With A Cause that has helped many.  As a civilian, he represents the
civilians in V.H.V.O.
John D. Foster
Commander
Our Commander & Founder, John D. Foster, served in the United States Air Force
from 1968 to 1971.  He is a Life Time Member of the AMVETS   Post 2352 in
Portsmouth, member of the American Legon and a Life Time Member of DAV
Victory Chapter 134 of Wheelersburg.  He is very active in the community in helping
homeless and needy veterans.  He does volunteer work in transporting nursing
homes to and from activities and field trips. He is very active in helping the
homeless and needy during Christmas and throughout the year.

Stacy Fields
Treasurer
Stacy Fields is no stranger to the office as Treasurer.  She served as
Treasurer in the past and has done a great job in keeping the records and
finances in order.  As the wife of a veteran, she fits right in the organization in
helping homeless, needy veterans and others.  As a child and through her
youthful years, she did community work with her father, Commander Foster, in
serving the needy.  Stacy is honored and proud to be a part of the great work
going on in the organization for our veterans and civilians that are in need.
Kathy Messer
Thrift Store Manager
Kathy Messer is a well experienced person when it comes to managing a thrift store and
working with people.  It shows when you pull in the drive and walk through the door of
Jonathan Etterling & Michael Orban Memorial Thrift Store in West Portsmouth.  She is
well organized and knows how to price donated items to sell to the public. Kathy is no
stranger to the military, besides her husband being a veteran of the Marines, her brothers
served as well.  She enjoys her work and it shows.  She is proud and honored to be
serving our homeless, needy veterans and others as a board member of Veterans Helping
Veterans & Others.
